Education-based Daycare

Smarties Academy uses a play-based approach and a full Spanish immersion program in our daycare. This instills in children a love of learning. We strive to provide the very best daycare through : Monitoring each child’s milestones, communicating with parents about their child, providing excellent attention and care through low student to staff ratios, and encouraging parental involvement through classroom activities and the Smarties Parents Association.

Our early childhood education offers more than daycare

Smarties Academy is a progressive learning space committed to providing your child with the very best in early child education.

• Preschool. The first years of a child's life are critical for establishing language learning and socialization. With infants and toddlers, Smarties Academy uses the Creative Curriculum, which has weekly themes where children explore various concepts and ideas and gradually repeat them over the course of the month. Children learn best through recalling! In the preschool program, children become ready for more experiences in math and literacy. Our program builds further upon concepts introduced in infancy. Spanish is also used throughout the day’s activities at Smarties Academy for ages 6 weeks to 4 years so children learn the foreign language naturally.
• Enrichment. Smarties Academy implements an instructional program that aims to promote high engagement and challenging learning opportunities for all children. Activities vary throughout the day.
• Holistic Daycare. Outdoor play is critical for all children. Smarties Academy offers a rich green space that is used for outdoor play and yoga in the summer months. There are gardens, where children learn to cultivate herbs and vegetables, and these crops are also used in preparation of their meals. We serve organic meals, and we use meals for social instruction. We never use chemical-based cleaners. As a result, we offer good indoor air quality and an environment free of toxic substances. We support the use of cloth diapers, and our high-quality toys are made of wood or recyclable plastic. We pass our compost to local farms. Our approach to holistic education is interconnected in everything we do.
